Tracy Blackerby, a Newman graduate ‘06, attended Tulane University where she received her Bachelors of Public Health (2010) and Masters of Public Health (2011). After completing her Masters, she volunteered as an AmeriCorps Member teaching health education in the New Orleans Metro area. She returned to Newman in the fall of 2013 to teach Physical Education and restart the Girls Basketball Program. Coach Blackerby is in her 9th year as a Lower School PE teacher and spent the last 5 years serving as the Head Girls Basketball Coach. She also coaches Middle School Volleyball and Softball. Coach Blackerby has worked Summer Camp for 7 years and is looking forward to another great Newman Summer!

 

Patrick Adams, Jr.
Baseball

Pat Adams played high school baseball at Archbishop Rummel High School, graduating in 1984. After coaching in Jefferson Parish Recreation Department from 1989 until 2008, he started coaching high school baseball at his alma mater in 2009. He coached all levels at Rummel including 3 years as a varsity assistant. Coach Adams is currently involved as a coach in the Carrollton Blue Travel Organization and has coached ages 9-12. In 2018 Coach Adams became the Middle School Baseball Director and Coach. In 2020, Coach Pat was named the Head Baseball coach for the Greenies and is in his third year at Newman High School. He oversees the Newman Baseball program from 6th through 12th grade. Coach Pat resides in Metairie with his wife Dari, and they have 28 year old twin boys.

Nelson Stewart
Football

Nelson Stewart is a former Newman student-athlete and football player who played under the renowned Newman Football Coach Tony Reginelli. Stewart graduated from Newman in 1995 after lettering for four years and serving as a team captain his senior year. After graduation from Newman, Stewart played offensive line for four years at Tulane University. While at Tulane, Nelson had the good fortune of playing under Tommy Bowden during Tulane's 1998 undefeated season.
Nelson came home to Newman in 1999 to coach Football and teach Physical Education. For the last 16 years Nelson has served as Head Coach and led the team to the playoffs each of those 16 years.
With multiple trips to the quarterfinals and 5 trips to the semifinals in the last 8 seasons. Coach Stewart has helped the Football program serve as a perennial state contender. Nelson has also served as an instructor at the Manning Passing Academy for 15 years while also helping to guide 20 of our football players to compete at the collegiate level.

Mark Faliveno
Track & Field
Asst. Sports Camp Manager

Mark Faliveno is in his 16th year at Newman. He has taught PE in the Lower, Middle and Upper Schools and has been a Middle and Upper School PE teacher since 2010. Coach Faliveno has served as the Head Girls' Track Coach since '09 and the Head Boys' Coach since '14. He also served as the Assistant Girls' and Boys' Cross Country Coach from 2011-2019 taking over as Head Coach in 2020. Coach Fal is a certified USTFCCCA Strength & Conditioning Specialist and USTFCCCA Sprints, Hurdles, Relays Specialist. He also has his USTF Level 1 Certification. Coach Fal has worked both Day Camp and Sports Camp and looks forward to leading Track Camp this summer.
